Today is Veteran's Day, a day when we honor the men and women who have served our country valiantly. Many have died in the struggle for freedom and the struggle to uphold justice. The least we can do is offer our support!
To all the men and women who have served: you are invaluable. You are amazing. Your want to protect your homeland gives us all courage.
I have already posted it on our FB page (which, if you haven't checked that out yet---please do so! There's a link in our sidebar that is GLARINGLY obvious), but there was an article released today that is very, very salient!
Groups hope Pentagon study on gays sways Congress - Washington Post
The article was just put out a little over two hours ago. But just look: there may be an end to the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy sooner than we think! What great news for such a momentous day.
How many members of the LGBT community have served that have had to do so in silence for fear of being expelled from the armed services? How many women - whose position in the armed services was precarious already, what with their permanent, official addition only in the 1940s - had to keep their sexualities under wraps?
Soon, I'm sure, there will be an end to this. We just need to stay strong and make our voices heard!
After all, everyone should be able to serve their country, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or otherwise. :) If you're willing, you should be able!
Stay beautiful!
